The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz is likely my most suggested book. Especially if you are in the beginning stages of a spiritual awakening. It also serves as a great refresher for those who are bit more seasoned in this game. It's written in a way that's practical, easy to read and straight to the point.
Our image of perfection is the reason we reject ourselves; it is why we don't accept ourselves the way we are, and why we don't accept others the way they are.
The Four Agreements has a solid spot in my top 10 favorite books of all time. I love that it is an easy read, practical and straight to the point. So easy, one can read it in 2-3 hours tops. However, don't let the 140 pages fool you. This book is full of gems. Gems that will stay with you throughout your life if you're intentional. The Four Agreements is a Toltec wisdom book to sum it up and not give much away. As far as my research takes me, the Toltecs were a group of ancient, indigenous people from Mexico who changed their culture for the greater good.
Ruiz studied their teachings and uses this book to help identify how we've been domesticated since birth, how the rules we've learned can restrict us and how we can use these agreements to break curses and replace old crippling habits. It sounds effortless, but the breakdown is immaculate, and I believe, very necessary for personal freedom. So, if you're drawn to - read the book, answer the questions below and let me know how you feel about it. How did it make you feel? Would you suggest the book to your friends? What's up?!
